In this day and age, Hip Hop and Neo Soul junkies are left feeling cold turkey finding sources to feed their particular music addiction. However, when the rare merging of both genres does actually happen, we have enough to overdose on the ‘dope’ provided, keeping us in ecstasy for months upon months.
Meet Lucille Ghatti, a young female artist from California creating music fuelled by the emotion called ‘love’, without the mushy and soppy connotations. With lyrics and poetry detailing romance, relationships and sex over classic Neo Soul & Hip Hop beats, Lucille does her best to leave you in a state of nostalgia, throwing back to the sounds of Erykah Badu and Slum Village.
This is the dopest tape we have heard in a very long time. Everything from the raw vocals, to the poetry, to the cover of my favourite Slum Village Tune ‘Climax’, is perfect. You can download ‘Amori Infiniti’ below and be sure to follow her on Twitter @LoudPackLucy. London, you heard it here first.
