Cassie – Cassie (Throwback Album Review)

5 years ago, during summer 2006, I watched one of the most seductive females in RnB dance her arse off in a mirror to a stupidly catchy beat (courtesy of Ryan Leslie). The song mentioned is, of course, the classic ‘Me & U’. This has cemented a place in my top 20 records ever, albeit a commercially aimed album.

Cassie has a unique, ‘soft’ singing voice, its refreshing – ‘au naturale’ ,’rawness‘ as I like to call it. As you can hear, hardly any effort is put into her vocal ranges, its effortless yet effective. Not many RnB singers have the ability to do this. Her vocals blend extremely well with Ryan Leslie’s synths and drum patterns. Match made in heaven almost (Well should have been).
