If I could describe Terry Richardson in 3 words…well then he wouldn’t be Terry Richardson, would he? If you’re not good with names, you may know him as the guy with the red plaid button-up, big glasses and an ever present “thumbs up” sign. Nonetheless, the larger than life fashion photographer has made a name for himself with his over-saturated, provocative “take” (pun intended) on fashion and pop culture, and his ability to turn even the tackiest of sceneries into kitsch.
He’s shot for every magazine you can think of, captured every celebrity you can name (not to mention the President of the United States), published 13 books, done about a zillion ad campaigns and the 2010 Pirelli Calendar, and he still finds time to regularly upload quirky shots of models and celebrities in his studio to Terry’s Diary. With all that (and more) under his belt, it’s a wonder that he hasn’t done a solo exhibition – until now, that is.
Terry Richardson’s first solo exhibition, entitled Terrywood is just what it sounds like – Terry Richardson meets Hollywood. As of yesterday, 25+ of Richardson’s latest shots are on display at the OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles, and will be through the end of March. The gallery will feature Hollywood culture through [NYC Native] Richardson’s lens and a few model cameos. Judging by the widespread anticipation , this exhibit is sure to be a hit, and if you’re in LA you should make your way over to La Cienega Blvd to check it out. I, on the other hand (and the other side of the country) will stick to cyber stalking and waiting for all the photos to come up online – stay tuned!
