Tsumori Chisato is the latest designer to team up with French macaron boutique Ladurée. He will be art directing a special cherry-blossom-themed set for the brand’s 150th anniversary.
The Paris based tea salon has a booming business with outlets across Europe, Asia, and the US, selling its coveted ‘to die for’ macarons. Chisato’s trademark colourful style has been incorporated with Laudurées traditional influences as displayed for the packaging designed for the cherry-blossom-themed set, which is scheduled to go on sale March 1st 2012. The designer worked alongside French chef Vincent Lemains on the conception of the pink cherry blossom flavoured macarons, in addition to a candle inspired by the flower has also been created to accompany the set.
This isn’t the first collabortation for Ladurée however. They recently launched the first ever Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée (The Wonders of Ladurée) makeup line in Japan before its international release later in the year.
Fashion houses including John Galliano, Christian Louboutin, and Marni have designed limited edition sets for the company in the past, and last September British designer Matthew Williamson applied his signature graphic prints to a selection of limited edition boxes in honour of the Fashion Week season. We look forward to seeing Tsumori Chisato’s set!
