Sample Of The Week: Aaliyah

Timbaland is well known for his range, which includes classy R’n'B productions with Justin Timberlake, Ginuwine, Missy Elliot as well as classic Rap tunes such as Jay-Z – Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Fabolous – Make Me Better and Bubba Sparxx – Ugly. However, there is one unforgettable artist whose music lives on with the unique sounds of Timbaland’s productions. Her name is Aaliyah.

Timbaland’s diverse sound has proved a winning formula when paired with the vocals of the beautiful Aaliyah, which makes up for most of the production on her last two albums.

The song that stands out the most is ‘More Than A Woman‘, from Aaliyah’s self titled album. Anything with a Middle Eastern influence through the channels of Timbaland is a guaranteed hit. We have seen this with Bobby Valentino – Tell Me, Jay-Z – Big Pimpin and Timbaland – Indian Flute. The cleverly used sample is from a song by Mayada El-Hennawy called Alouli Ansa. Check it out below.

On a final note, RIP Aaliyah.
