In the most epic collaboration since Kanye and Jay-Z (yes I said it), this fall, Maison Martin Margiela is blessing us mere mortals with a collection for H&M.
Yes, we’ve seen H&M go haute (Marni, Versace, Lanvin etc.) but this is only the second time H&M pushes the envelope with an avant garde collection (the first was Comme Des Garcons in fall 2008). So far, the only previews we have are a “darted sweater” for women and a “fusion of several car coats” for men – I don’t know about you, but that’s enough to have me on the edge of my seat (and willing to cross dress) for the next five months.
So what do you think? Is the mega brand ready to collaborate with the conceptual house? Margareta van der Bosch, creative director at H&M, calls Margiela “one of the most influential fashion houses of the past three decades,” so, yes, I think they’re ready – it’s a move in the right direction for both brands if you ask me.
